When this page is being written, 2026, the topic of AI and specifically generative AI has become quite a hot-button topic. The purpose of this page it outline a usage and contribution policy that follows common sense, while respecting the complexities and emotions involved.
AI images and content may be used as placeholders and as conceptualization. AI assistive tools may be used to help with writing, so long as the concepts, and ideas were generated by a human. AI images should not be used where human alternatives are available, or easily obtained, and (when possible) AI content should be marked as such. Edits to flag or replace such content are welcome.
Truth be told, I use AI a lot day to day. Not 'generative'; but for coding. It's a powerful tool, but also a siren song. It's too easy to let the machine think for you, and that is where "AI Slop" comes from.
This wiki will not become a home for AI slop.
However, art costs money, and this wiki certainly does nothing but cost it. I like seeing my characters and concepts as much as the next person. I'll admit, I've done a lot of AI image generation to see that happen. Some, older images, are art from friends. A lot, now, is generative AI. In a perfect world, I live on a yacht and pay artists to draw my whims.
Till that day, I'll use generative AI to make images that less than a dozen people in the world will ever see. Should this, somehow, become popular, then expect this policy to change.
I think AI and image generation specifically are here to stay. I think, as a society, we'll have to graple and come to terms with that. I'm not here to argue morals; I am trying to be a rational realist. If it dies tomorrow, great. I'll happily dance on it's grave. Until then, it's a good tool when used correct. And making money off of it is not ok. But that's not what's happening here.
Should that change, so will the policy.
