Leist is "the best damn engineer in Freelance Space", or so she claims. She's smart, incredibly skilled, and also enough of a pain in the ass no very few crews have ever wanted to deal with her for more than a few months.
To her, any ship she works on is hers, and the engineering section is her own private space. She lets people in there when she needs to, but she'd rather treat it like her bedroom: it's invite only and she will kick you out eventually.
She hates Terrans. She has a history of straight up terrorism against Terran Captains and ships, blowing them up rather indiscriminately. She has barely avoided getting arrested and handed over to the Terrans; she can't afford for Confederate law enforcement to ever get their hands on her or she absolutely will be shipped off as a 'good faith' gesture. Still she doesn't care; to her the only good Terran is a dead Terran, and the only good ship is the one with her as it's Chief Engineer. This is why most people only ever know her as 'Chief'. She prefers it that way.
