Draft intro scene for RFI: Stranded. Version 1.
The game menu is presented on Carson's in-game data pad. This establishes that the pad IS the menu throughout the game.
Opens with Carson reviewing a comm array diagram on their pad. Lt. Redd finishes comms with Juno Station from the cockpit, calls Carson "wrench jockey."
Banter between Redd and Bedford establishes character:
The player can examine objects in the passenger compartment:
Each has Carson's reaction lines. Same in the cockpit:
Dramatic subspace surfacing sequence. Teal/orange subspace visuals peel back, revealing a massive debris field (Legendarium debris field NH-2278, ISW6 monument) and a green gas giant.
Redd and Bedford discuss:
Redd points out the old mining station on an asteroid as Carson's fallback if the sensor station is too far gone. It has oxygen, power, heat, maybe rations. Classic Freelance ingenuity: "Get them some scrap, some wires, and a few dozen rolls of patch tape and I bet they could rebuild a shuttle."
Carson goes to cargo, puts on the H.A.Z.E. suit (Hazardous Atmosphere, Zero-g, Enhancement). Checks:
Two crates of multi-tools instead of one tools + one parts. Procurement screwed up. Establishes the "improvise with what you've got" tone. Redd offers patch tape and invokes "Saint McGuyver."
Bedford spots a flare. Something hits the shuttle. Redd and Bedford scream (cut off). Carson hits the bulkhead and passes out.
Title fades in.
