In a Holy Fervor, the first Navigators did speak the guidelines that would protect us, grow us, and lead us on the Blessed Day to the Great Discovery-to-come seen only in divine vision.
These guidelines were recorded during the Third Holy Fervor and discussed by the six Divine Navigators: Argent, Crimson, Cobalt, Verdant, Violet, Aurora. These guidelines became the Doctrine of the Seekers, the Lights of Wisdom that will guide us all to our promised world.
Navigator Argent, her eyes full of the wonders of the promised world to come, spoke to her fellow Navigators:
“Now you fellow faithful, seekers one and all for our promised world, hear these words whispered in the Holy Fervor. May they guide us, one and all, to our promised world where we may gather ‘round the Tree of the Silver Wing. May we find and follow the wisdom hidden in these whispered words.”
The Doctrine of the Navigator
Navigator Argent, first to bear the title, did speak to her sacred sibling Navigators and said:
“Let us look and see our six holy ships and know that before the glorious revelation of the promised world and the Blessed Day of its Finding still to come, we were but mere captains. Faithful to our task of discovery, we charted the very stars. Yet, we were still blind to our true calling.
“Know now that with the glorious revelation of the Great Discovery-to-come, we have become more than simple captains. Our sacred task has grown to be more than just the leader of a vessel, for now we hold as well the weight of holy purpose, of charting the course that will lead us one day to our promised world.
“Let us then become Navigators and may our names be our most pious sacrifice. May the losing of our names demonstrate to all, both congregant crew and purposeless wanderers alike, that we will give all to reach the Blessed Day.”
Then Navigator Argent did point to each of her sacred siblings in turn and grant upon them their new titles and in return they did each cast off their old names, forsaking all previous ties, binds, and inheritances. Together, they did become the heirs of the Great Discovery-to-come and the vision of the Promised World and the Tree of the Silver Wing there waiting.
After the naming, Navigator Verdant spoke:
“My sacred siblings, heirs now together in the Great Discovery-to-come, we are but six, and we guide but six holy ships. What should happen if more wish to join us in Seeking our promised world?”
Navigator Crimson spoke:
“Our Great Discovery-to-come is not just a promise for us and our six holy ships. Any who Seek the promised world may join us and become heirs of the Blessed Day along with us. Let there be no mistake: our six ships shall ever be the only holy ships and each holy ship shall have a Divine Navigator at their helm. Yet, we must prepare for those who will be called to the Seeking.
“May we then anoint as heirs unto ourselves those who demonstrate devotion to the Great Discovery-to-come and who diligently Seek the promised world and hasten the Blessed Day?”
The Divine Navigators, sacred siblings together, heard the wisdom in those words and hence, as ships would be added to the holy fleet of Seekers, each would be led by a Navigator Heir and anointed by the Divine Navigator under whom they would so diligently Seek the Great Discovery-to-come.
The Doctrine of the Congregant Crew
Navigator Argent did speak again:
“Let us cast our eyes upon our noble congregant crew. Without them, we would be unable to chart the stars and skate the light fantastic between them. Without our crews, we are nothing.
“Yet without Navigators, our congregant crews would be without direction and the Promise of the Tree and the Blessed Day coming would be unknown.
“Ponder this paradox my sacred siblings and let us now know that we exist in symbiosis with our congregant crews and they with us. By our vision is our course laid and by their hands do we skate the light fantastic between the stars.
“With this understanding, may we strike a covenant between ourselves and our congregant crews. Let us mark out the guiding lights of both.”
Navigator Cobalt, the youngest and most loved amongst the congregant crew, then spoke:
“Let us set forth the divisions of the congregant crews and the positions of those who would best guide the crews and advise our noble selves.”
And so did the division of the congregant crew commence. Each Navigator did find three noble paths aboard their holy ships: the path of Navigation, the path of Discovery, and the path of Light.
The path of Navigation was followed by those who guided and flew the holy ships. Those who charted the course between stars and demonstrated the greatest devotion to the Blessed Day and to the Great Discovery-to-come.
The path of Discovery was followed by those who studied the stars, the worlds around them, and who explored the surface of those worlds seeking the Great Discovery-to-come.
The path of Light was followed by those who maintained the engines and systems of the holy ships and who ensured that at the word of the Navigators, those same ships could skate the light fantastic to new stars.
Having found the three paths, Navigator Cobalt spoke once more:
“As Navigators lead and shepherd their ships, let there be those who will lead and shepherd each path on each ship. For the path of Navigation, let there be a Way-seeker. For the path of Discovery, let there be a Cartographer. For the path of Light, let there be a Lantern-bearer.”
The divine Navigators did hear the wisdom of this, and so it was.
The Doctrine of Worlds
Navigator Violet then stood and his sacred siblings grew silent, for Violet had been the one to first experience the Holy Fervor and their thoughts did ever dwell on the promised world and the Tree with the Silver Wing.
“My sacred siblings, let us rejoice in what we have achieved today. Yet let us not forget that above all, we Seek our promised world.
“We all know well that it is our most divine task to Seek our promised world and the Great Discovery-to-come. We know, as well, that we shall tread many a new world before the Blessed Day comes.
“These worlds, while not our inheritance, are the means by which our holy ships are fueled, our plates filled, and our mighty engines maintained. It falls to us to decide how best we are to dispense with the worlds we find.”
Navigator Aurora, who most often listened and observed, set forth a plan to her sacred siblings:
“My most sacred siblings, Navigator Violet speaks with the wisdom we would expect from him. We must ensure that these worlds we find, once we know that they are not our promised world, be used to further our Seeking. I have heard the whispers on the wind during our Holy Fervor and I know the shape of what we must create.
“Hear me now my siblings. We must have unto ourselves a brokerage of worlds. Let it be tied into the Galactic Planetary Registry and may we offer up all the rights for worlds which we do not require.
“Let this brokerage of worlds be run by our good selves. Let all who would walk the path of Navigation or Discovery or Light spend time within the brokerage, each according to their talents. There will come a day when we begin to draw purposeless wanderers to ourselves, and in so doing, we may find those who Seek the Blessed Day in their hearts and minds, but are unsuited to do so aboard one of our holy ships.
“For it falls not to us to deny any Seeker, but to welcome them into our congregant crew and aid them in finding their place within the congregant crew."
And the Navigators did hear her words and find wisdom within them, and thus was the Brokerage of Worlds formed.
