Most of the habitable planets in the Vanir system are very mountainous and rocky, making farming and cultivation a challenge. Predominantly, most people in-system are employed in either mining, quarrying, or ranching some variant of goats.
The system itself hosts two barren planets and one gas giant rich in Helium-3. The system is also home to one end of a known subspace corridor. This would usually make the system some sort of hub if the corridor went anywhere useful, but as the corridor links Vanir to a dead system who's star is a Quark Star pulsar, not a lot of trade moves along this particular corridor.
