The Aegis-class was designed to be one of the most fearsome combat ships of the League fleet. Unfortunately, the ship has some extremely odd operational parameters that require a creative and deeply competent captain to make the most of. In the hands of your average cruiser captain, the class can be a powerhouse artillery piece. In the hands of a gifted captain, an Aegis can become the cornerstone of a fleet or battlegroup.
Escort, Artillery, Defensive Shield
The Aegis-class is, functionally, a multi-role cruiser. Which role they fill is largely determined by the skills of the crews in question.
