The third hull laid down by AetherLux in the LuxLiner line, but the second one completed. The Sanctus and her three sister ships were all launched on the same day in 2551 and for the next decade, things went swimmingly for Entranza.
The Sanctus enjoyed an operational life of solid bookings and a three year wait list for its whole time with Entranza. In 2561, however, the Agios was lost with all hands on a routine trip from Calysto to Gaelia. Despite it being a perfect storm of accidents that conspired against the Agios, the Entranza company was not long for this world.
In 2568, as part of their efforts to remain solvent, the Sanctus was put up for sale. Her two surviving sister ships had been quickly snapped up by hotel and entertainment chain Grand Vistas, LLC and moved to stationary orbits over Calysto and (RESORT WORLD PLACEHOLDER) respectively. The Sanctus was not so lucky. She was purchased by a group of investors hoping to claim a piece of the market left vacant by Entranza. It turns out that passengers no longer trusted the LuxLiner class, and she failed to even reach 25% capacity, the minimum needed to run a profitable trip.
In 2573, the investment group collapsed and the Sanctus was placed back up for sale. She bounced between various overly ambitious start-ups and investment groups who were all intent on getting her flying again. None of them succeeded. By 2581, 30 years after her launch, she found herself on the auction block in Aberdeen, where she was purchased for pennies on the dollar by Emmett Morgan. He changed her name to Sanctus Aurum and relaunched her in the Confederacy as a haven for those who tended to travel in underworld circles.
From Matt:
Meet the actual ship that becomes our version of the Errant Venture. Originally, I had intended the Sanctus to be the ship lost in the dead system, but when I came up with the name "Sanctus Aurum" or Holy Gold, I couldn't kill her off yet and shifted the Agios onto the chopping block. Plus, I had already done the whole "third ship of a line gets cursed with a horrible fate" with the Revelation-class and wanted to make sure it didn't happen again here.
