The League Transportation Command (TRANSCOM) is a unified combatant command responsible for providing strategic mobility, deployment, distribution, and sustainment operations for the League of Allied Worlds. As one of the League's unified combatant commands, TRANSCOM coordinates transportation assets across all three service branches—Navy, Space Force, and Marines—to project and sustain League military power across known space.
TRANSCOM's primary mission is to provide strategic mobility for the League military in support of the League Security Strategy. The command coordinates, synchronizes, and directs the efforts of component commands to meet global and interstellar deployment and distribution requirements in both peacetime and wartime.
Key responsibilities include:
TRANSCOM was established in 2291 in direct response to the logistical challenges exposed during the First Interstellar War. Prior to its establishment, each service branch maintained separate transportation assets, leading to inefficiencies and gaps in coverage that hindered strategic mobility during the conflict.
The command proved its worth during the major fleet movements of the Second and Third Interstellar Wars, where coordinated transportation enabled rapid deployment of forces across multiple sectors simultaneously. By the Fourth Interstellar War, TRANSCOM had evolved into one of the most critical commands in the League military structure.
TRANSCOM operates through three primary component commands, each aligned with a League military service branch:
The Naval Transportation Service provides strategic sealift and spacelift using dedicated transport vessels. NTS operates:
NTS is headquartered at Freedom Station and operates regional commands in each major sector of League space.
The Space Force Mobility Command provides air and orbital mobility, including:
SFMC coordinates closely with carrier air groups and maintains rapid-response airlift squadrons at key League installations.
The Marine Transport Service specializes in amphibious and expeditionary logistics:
MTS assets are often integrated directly into naval task forces, with transport commanders working alongside naval and Marine leadership.
TRANSCOM maintains several categories of specialized vessels:
The Ready Reserve Fleet consists of civilian-pattern vessels maintained in reduced operating status but capable of activation within days. These ships provide surge capacity during major deployments or emergencies. Vessels include:
TRANSCOM maintains close relationships with civilian transportation companies through the Civil Reserve Space Fleet (CRSF) program. Participating companies receive:
In exchange, these vessels must meet military standards and be available for activation during League-wide emergencies.
TRANSCOM is led by a four-star Admiral (O-10) who serves as Commander, Transportation Command (CDRTRANSCOM). The command staff includes:
TRANSCOM headquarters is located at Calysto, with forward command elements maintained in each major League sector.
