New Horizons Mining and Indutrial is the name for the Lyndri state-owned mining corporation. It is the second largest mining company in the known galaxy, primarily operating between Lyndri and NorAellian space.
NHMI has been a part of New Horizons since it's inception, the original point of the company being that it was impossible to start an asteroid mining business without government funding. Since then NHMI has been the backbone of the organization, as it provided all the raw materials and did in-house refining for the rest of New Horizons
Currently, NHMI simply sells the bulk of what they mine raw material to refiners that it subcontracts to as well as selling the raw material on the open market. It has no refineries (publically) because such work would be seen as too complicated for Lyndri to master. NHMI doesn't mind this view, despite it being completely wrong.
In the last century, however, NHMI has bought old refineries and runs those to refine a small amount of material that it then uses primarily for government projects or other public service ventures. They've been in talks to start buying NorAellian foundries and refining equipment, but the political pressure from both the Terrans and the League have been immense, with multiple attempts to scuttle the deal. The stated reason is a cocern over Lyndri safety practices (which are very lax by even charitable estimations), but the unspoken reason is a fear of what an independent Lyndri people would look like in the galaxy at large.
In truth, NHMI operates hundreds of refineries and foundries under the watchful eye of Zy’ruhsh. These refineries primarily supply the rest of New Horizons and augment any material their shitty public refineries fail to produce for government projects.
