The LSS Meshach was the third ship of the Revelation-class. Her service life started off on rocky ground, as most of the League Admiralty had decided that the Revelation-class was nothing but a waste of material and crew. Even with the superb performance of the Revelation and the Shadrach, the ship design was too far from what the League was used to.
A promise had been extracted for four ships to be produced as proof of concept, so despite their hesitations, the ship was completed. Unlike her two sister ships, the Meshach was assigned to the edge of League space that didn't touch anyone else.
Despite this ignominy, the Meshach and her crew served with distinction, even putting down a few incipient rebellions engineered by both Zealots and the sheer stubbornness of humans. They did this in both cases utterly without bloodshed, leading to her sole captain gaining a reputation as an impressive negotiator, and for the rest of her pre-refit service on the frontier, she was often called upon to intervene in situations where a calm, skilled negotiator would be of benefit.
After 15 years of continuous service on the frontier, the entire class was scheduled for a full refit. For a brief, four month period, all four sister ships were in dry docks adjacent to each other. It was the last time all four would be in the same place in their operational life times.
The refit was a disaster from the drop. While everything seemed to go well for the Meshach during the refit, upon her launch for a shakedown cruise, all of her systems suffered a complete and spontaneous failure of existence all at once. The ship was towed back to the dry dock for examination which revealed exactly nothing.
After several days of examination, McKenzie ordered the ship towed to the Anchorage for further work.

The Meshach has the ignoble position of being the ship that we dumped misfortune on. The Revelation had her place in the greater story, the Abednego was needed elsewhere (and was the reason the line had the names they did), and the Shadrach avoided the same fate by being off-handedly mentioned doing something else first.
Thus the Meshach became the carrier of ill-fortune for the line. Perhaps down the road, we'll tell some stories of her before the refit and carry her legacy forward in other ways. After all, her crew survived the system failure and her hull is still safely ensconced at one of McKenzie's black sites. Who knows where it will end up?
