Only four ships of this class were ever made: LSS Revelation, LSS Shadrach, LSS Meshach, and LSS Abednego.
The crews of these vessels developed a well-deserved reputation for loyalty to their ship, captain, and crew mates. More than one bar fight at a League Naval Station has resulted from an insult being hurled at a Revelation class ship. The command crews themselves often exhibit a reluctance to leave their postings on a Revelation. The captain of the LSS Revelation, {insert name here}, has refused transfer to any other ship, and has made it clear that {they'll} only accept flag level promotion if they can remain in command of the Revelation.
Despite League resistance to this class, all four were refit in 2692 after 15 years of meritorious, if shadowy, service. This refit was only successfully completed with the Revelation and the Shadrach. The Meshach suffered a near complete systems failure on her shakedown cruise, and despite the dock yard stripping her down nearly to her frame, no official cause has ever emerged. The Abednego was the last of the four to be refit and she vanished on her shakedown voyage. All hands were declared lost in action. No official statement has ever been made about her disappearance.
The Revelation class is a continued evolution of McKenzie's experimental design push and was the last of his experimental ships (before the Dante Project) that deviated so far from standard League design. Both the Erebus and the Valhalla hew much closer to League standards.
Some spacers operating on the ragged edges of the known galaxy have reported ships of designs very close to the Revelation, however, as the individuals making these reports are not the most trustworthy people around, and as these reports have never been corroborated by League Intelligence, most people chalk these reports up as rumor and legend on par with the reports of ghost ships plying routes in deep space.
Originally, the Revelation-class was intended to sit at the heart of a fleet. This never panned out, mostly due to the wide deviation from standard League design doctrine. Other battlecruisers and Dreadnaughts (Super or otherwise) still hold such positions, but the four Revelation ships have, through no fault of their own, found themselves shuffled out of the spotlight and into the shadows at the edge of League space.
This turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Because the League Admiralty didn't know what to do with them, the four Revelation ships were more often than not tasked by McKenzie directly. With their two docked Archigos destroyers, and a grand total of eight fighter squadrons between the three ships, a single Revelation-class dropping into a system meant that a small fleet had arrived.
All four ships served with distinction along the ragged edge of League space well away from the front lines of the war. Courtesy of McKenzie's directing of their missions, the Shadrach often found itself conducting diplomatic missions into NorAellian and Lyndri space, the Abednego was often tasked with missions into Freelance space, the Meshach kept some of the further-flung League worlds from revolting, and the Revelation herself gained a reputation for appearing on hand exactly when a Super Dreadnaught was needed.
The Revelation is a ship of deeply Sooni design sensibilities provided by McKenzie's own experiences during the Archigos experiment and from later collaboration with Sooni who returned with him and his crew. There is a reason that McKenzie changed his approach to overall design doctrine when he pushed the Erebus and Valhalla several years later.
The Revelation refit program was a disaster from the word go. To ensure that the Revelation herself was only refit to McKenzie and her captain's preferred specs, McKenzie had to call in several favors and the captain was forced to finally accept promotion to Admiral with a promise to hand command over to a successor of their choosing by the end of the full class refit. As the Abednego is still officially listed as missing on her shakedown voyage and the Meshach's system failure is still being investigated, the time frame of this command handover has ceased being relevant. With the Fall and McKenzie's rise to the Presidency, this handover requirement was rescinded.
