Corona Astra is the central civilian station of the League of Allied Worlds, in orbit of Calysto. It serves as the primary hub for civilian commerce, travel, and daily life in the capital system. If Freedom Station is where the League runs its military, Corona Astra is where everyone else lives, works, shops, and passes through.
The station is enormous — large enough that a Revelation-class Super Dreadnought can't dock on short notice, needing hundreds of kilometers of standoff distance just to avoid getting in the way. It has its own security force (distinct from the military presence on Freedom Station), detention facilities, and commercial districts.
Corona Astra is the station most League citizens think of when they think of Calysto. It handles civilian traffic, commercial freight, passenger transit, and all the mundane infrastructure that keeps a capital system running. Freelance ships, merchant vessels, and civilian transports dock here rather than at Freedom Station, making it one of the most culturally diverse places in League space.
Corona Astra maintains its own civilian security force, separate from League military. They handle station law enforcement, customs, and emergency response. Their bomb disposal capabilities are limited — during one notable incident involving religious radicals, station security had to call in Admiral McKenzie directly after their bomb squad was on holiday leave and the Marine Bomb Disposal team on Freedom Station was occupied with a separate threat.
For more serious incidents, the station coordinates with League military assets, but the day-to-day security is firmly civilian.
During the Christmas holiday of 2690, a group of religious radicals attempted to detonate a bomb in the station's lower levels. The threat was neutralized by the crew of the FMS Chilkoot, who happened to be docked at Corona Astra at the time and were pressed into service after Admiral McKenzie cleared them with station security.
