Fulu is a manufacturing powerhouse with a secret weapon: a subspace corridor connecting its sun to the sun of Tel'Erani in Freelance space. That makes it both one of the Republic's largest factory systems and its most direct route to the border worlds.
The subspace corridor between Fulu and Tel'Erani is the reason this system matters to anyone outside the industrial sector. Ships transiting the corridor can cover in days what would normally take weeks, and the route has become a major trade artery. Terran manufactured goods flow out; Freelance raw materials, specialty products, and the occasional item that fell off the back of a freighter flow in.
Corridor Station, a Terran customs and trade facility at the Fulu end, processes the bulk of this traffic. It's one of the busiest ports in the sector.
The military implications are obvious. A fleet staged at Fulu could reach Tel'Erani in days. Republic High Command has maintained a standing naval presence in-system for as long as the corridor has been charted, officially to "protect trade interests."
The system's orbital yards and surface factories produce everything from civilian freight haulers to military-grade hull plating. Much of this output feeds Domov Sector's three standing fleets: Fulu builds it, the corridor ships it to the border, and House Rampart's forces put it to use.
Fulu Prime is the more developed of the two habitable worlds. Factory complexes, worker housing blocks, and transit networks cover most of the surface. The air quality is technically within Republic standards, though residents have a saying: "Fulu sunsets are beautiful. That's the particulates."
Fulu Minor is smaller and drier. Agricultural and residential overflow for Prime, housing workers and their families in marginally more livable conditions.
The Fulu Orbital Industrial Complex is not a single station but a cluster of shipyards, manufacturing platforms, and storage facilities in high orbit above Prime, grown over centuries of continuous expansion. At any given time, dozens of ships are under construction or refit in the Complex's berths.
The Complex is a restricted zone. Civilian traffic is routed well clear of its orbital band, and the Republic Navy maintains a permanent patrol presence. Getting close without authorization is a good way to get boarded. Or worse.
