The People's Republic of Terra spans five sectors, each governed by a hereditary Magistrate. Hundreds of billions of people spread across dozens of worlds. Terran space is the most densely industrialized region in known space. Every habitable planet has been built up, built out, and packed to the rafters.
The heart of the Republic. Sol Sector contains the seat of government, the Premiere's residence, and the Assembly. It also faces the Front Lines, the centuries-old border with the League of Allied Worlds. Politically the most important sector, militarily the most exposed. Propaganda runs thick here, military recruitment is aggressive, and patriotism is less a value than a survival mechanism.
One of the first two interstellar colonies, positioned on the Republic's northern border with Freelance space. Domov Sector maintains three standing fleets at all times (more than any other sector) due to its proximity to the Confederacy. The border is a constant source of tension: smuggling, defection, trade disputes, the occasional armed skirmish. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, Domov has the most cultural contact with Freelancers of any part of the Republic. House Rampart's name is not a coincidence.
The other of the first two colonies. Surya Sector was originally positioned as a hub for further expansion. That expansion brought the Republic into proximity with the Lyndri Empire and the Lyndri slave trade. Surya Sector is heavily invested in mining and resource extraction, and is the primary gateway for trade (legal and otherwise) with the Lyndri. The sector's wealth comes from what it pulls out of the ground and what passes through its ports.
The interior. Farthest from any border or front line, which makes it either the safest or the most forgettable part of the Republic depending on who you ask. With no military concerns to speak of, Pixiu's worlds have been free to focus entirely on production. House Okuda, one of the Founding Houses, has held Pixiu through three previous Magistrate families, suggesting they know something about patience.
The outback. Arkaroo Sector occupies the Republic's far northwest. Remote, sparsely populated relative to the other sectors, largely self-sufficient. House Qadir is the only Magistrate family to have held their title since the founding of the sector system, with no previous holders and no serious challengers. Whether this reflects exceptional governance, strategic irrelevance, or the fact that nobody else wants to live out here is a matter of some debate.
